In honor of Day of the Dead I would like to remember my grandma who passed away when I was little. I was too little to remember her but from what my mom says I’m just like her. She was a unique woman. She didn’t care what others said or thought about her. She liked to knit. She was also into the Native American culture and loved jazz. She has sung jazz also.
I will always wonder what it would have been like to hang out with her for just one day. I really do miss her a lot. Her name was Linda Kay Lanham. When I am old enough I’m going to get a tattoo in honor of my grandma.
She was truly special to me even though I didn’t have a chance to meet her and remember it. I am always thinking why did she have to go? Why my grandma? These questions have racked my mind day and night. I wish she was still around because of what my mom said she was pretty cool and down to earth and that is how I will remember her.
My grandma died from cancer. She will always be in my heart.

Kelsey, thank you for this beautiful and personal piece. I also miss my grandma very much. Have you read Mitch Albom's book: "The Five People You Meet in Heaven?" I think you might enjoy it.
