November 9th: Reading Partnership Day and Intro to food mini-unit
Read: Quote by Nikki Giovanni and Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto
Begin drafting independent food writing
November 14th : Read Comfort Me with Apples by Ruth Reichl
We will have approx. an hour to work/type writings.
By the end of class your thoughtful one page typed food memory is due.
Writings will be graded on use of examples, sensory details, and word choice. Be creative.
Email finalized narratives to kfishman@columbia.k12.mo.us
November 16th: Reading Partnership Day
Bring your recipes to class and email them to yourself or Mrs. Weaver.

Read: It Must Have Been Something I Ate by Jeffery Steingarten.
November 18th Finish up food unit reading and writing
Read: The Health-Food Diner by, Maya Angelou
We will have about 40 minutes to type up your paragraphs and email them and your recipes to Mrs. Weaver.
Due: two recipes with a paragraph introducing each recipe. Email recipes and paragraphs to kfishman@columbia.k12.mo.us

Sign up for the food you will bring to our Thanksgiving Food Celebration.
November 22nd: Thanksgiving Food Celebration
Bring in a dish from one of your recipes. If you need a place to store your food you can bring it to The Center (room 229) and check in with Mrs. Weaver or Mr. Giessman. I can also refrigerate food and warm food in a microwave.
